Updating Microsoft Teams Room

The good news is that Microsoft Teams Room is distributed through the Microsoft Store so the updates to the app are installed from that automatically during nightly maintenance. But if needed, a manual update can be done as well.

This document from Microsoft includes everything you need to know about the manual update process. However, here is the quick rundown that simplifies the process.

First, download the offline app update script. For example, https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2151817 is the version of 4.11.12.0.

Copy the script to a USB drive. Installing it through a USB drive just seems to be easier.

Now let’s update the Teams Room console.

Press the Win key five times, the windows login screen will show up. Switch to Administrator and use the default password “sfb” if you haven’t changed to log in.

Insert the USB drive that has the offline app update script into the computer. Open an elevated PowerShell window and run the following cmdlet.

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted "D:\MTR-Update-4.11.12.0.ps1"

Restart the room device and you are all set.
