If you have a blog and use FeedBurner burn your RSS feed, you may like this new approach FeedBurner recently added.

Log into your FeedBurner account and go to Publicize tab, you will notice a new category listed at the left sidebar named Socialize, just under the FeedCount. What this new thing does right now is that once it’s enabled FeedBurner will automatically post updates from your feed to your social media account, though Twitter is the only one supported at the moment.

Clicking Add a Twitter account will go through Twitter’s oauth authentication process to verify your twitter account. You may be able to associate several account with your FeedBurner account but unfortunately each feed may only post to one Twitter account at a time.

There are also enough formatting options available for twittering. You can even add hash tags based on the post categories. As for url shortening, FeedBurner uses its own shortening service, Google URL Shortener at goo.gl.

It’s nice and works seamlessly and effortlessly if you want your twitter friends know what’s new on your blog. However, unless Google URL Shortener provides me a way to check the click statistics, I probably still stick with the twitterfeed for now.

I was just browsing random tech blogs on Technorati and happened to end up here, and now I am glad that I did. I have been having problems with the WP->Twitter plugin, not sure how I didn’t catch this feature myself when setting up feedburner last week.

    Thanks!
