Windows Live Writer Plug-ins for WordPress

Posted in WordPress on October 21st, 2009 by Kent

I love Live Writer so much that I use it almost everyday. It’s the best blogging tool in my own opinion. If you still haven’t used it I urge you to give it a try right away. It’s a life saving tool for any type of blogger.

The tool is so powerful and feature rich that I never found a need that requires me to use any type of plug-ins, even though there are tons out there on Windows Live Gallery for me to download for free. But I can’t ignore this new plug-in that was developed by developer Brandon Turner in Windows Live Writer team and was targeted specifically for WordPress. If you are using Live Writer to write the posts to your WordPress powered blog, you must check it out.

You can download the plug-in from Windows Live Writer Plug-ins on SkyDrive, and save it to the plug-ins folder in your Live Writer installation directory:

%ProgramFiles%\Windows Live\Writer\Plugins

Note that if you are running Live Write on Vista or Windows 7, you will need local administrator rights to save the plugin to the folder above.

This new plug-in offers three features, comments management, custom fields, and blog title/tagline editor. The first two of them will benefit me quite a lot down the road.

Comments management and Blog Title can be accessed from Insert top menu.

The Custom Fields will need to be enabled first and then will be popping up after the post gets posted.
