Twitter is rolling out the new Lists feature

Posted in Internet on October 17th, 2009 by Kent

Finally, Twitter has started rolling out a very long missed feature, Lists, that is pretty similar to Groups or Favorite Users that are on 3rd party Twitter client tools. It first appeared on one of my two twitter account above the all status updates but disappeared now. So I guess they are still testing and working on this new feature.

I created a new list called Windows-7-Giveaway at the time when I saw this new feature showing up, in a hope using it to manage the Windows 7 Giveaway contest we are running at the moment. So now when I log into my twitter account, first the following status area has changed.

And then the new Lists shown up in the right panel right above the Trending Topics, in which has my new created list Windows-7-Giveaway.

To add the twitters to the list, you will have to go to either the user page or the follower/following list first. And add the people to the list there.

It so far looks good and is very useful to person like me who usually uses the web interface for twittering when working on my laptop. I only use the Twitter apps on iPhone.

It also appears that this new feature is slowly rolling out to twitter users. I have two twitter accounts but only one has this new feature on. So if you haven’t seen it shown up you probably need to be more patient as the rolling out process may take time to finish.
